Discover NYSUM is a two-day campus visit and orientation designed for pastors and ministry leaders who are prayerfully considering bringing a group on a short-term mission trip to New York City.

This experience provides a clear, firsthand look at the New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM) — who we are, how we serve, and how we prepare and deploy mission teams in one of the most complex and spiritually significant urban mission fields in the world.

Weekdays: Monday – Wednesday.

What Is

Discover NYSUM?

Discover NYSUM is a guided preview of the full NYSUM mission experience. It is intentionally designed to help leaders understand how NYSUM trains, houses, feeds, and deploys short-term mission teams while partnering with local churches throughout New York City.

Rather than a classroom presentation, Discover NYSUM offers an on-the-ground view of NYSUM’s ministry philosophy, training process, and operational structure — allowing leaders to discern whether NYSUM is the right partner for their church or organization.

    Providing Urban Ministry

    NYSUM’s Legacy

    Since 1984, the New York School of Urban Ministry has trained more than 50,000 youth and adults in hands-on urban ministry. Each year, NYSUM hosts and deploys over 5,000 participants by partnering with more than 100 inner-city churches and ministries across New York City.

    Through initiatives such as mobile food truck ministry, homeless outreach, shelter ministry, street evangelism, and seasonal compassion programs, NYSUM equips mission teams to meet both physical and spiritual needs while strengthening the local church.
